A selection of some famous film posters, reinterpreted and drawn by illustrator and graphic designer Ghen Martin
Do you collect movie posters? I do. I have always enjoyed contemplating the illustrations created by artists as Drew Struzan for films as Back to the Future, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Thing or The Shawshank Redemption. What better way to meet the characters and decide going to the cinema and got carried away by them? But, above all, it’s all about good illustrations.
Today it’s difficult to find good movie poster illustrations, we must look backward to find this kind of film posters, beautifully crafted by artists with meticulous care. Nowadays, most of the movie posters change the illustrations for pictures beautifully retouched in Photoshop to look perfect and, ironically, they end to become more illustrations than photographs.
My personal approach to the the films I include in this section is very obvious, trying to reinterpret each poster thinking from my point of view, my style, I guess a more comic book style than most of the posters are when they first appear to announce the movie release for the first time.
